Through the volunteer efforts of its members, and with assistance from the NCURA National Office, Region I offers a wide variety of educational, networking, and professional development programs available to Region I members. In addition to active participation at the NCURA Annual Meeting in Washington, DC each year, Region I holds its own Annual Meeting, several half-day Boston-based Research Administrators Discussion Group (RADG) meetings, as well as periodic one-day workshops geared toward enhancing the skills of both new and more seasoned professionals. In 2008, Region I also initiated a Mentor Program designed to offer a more personal touch to the training and development of research administrators with less than five years of experience. We are also very successful in the area of volunteerism, without which, most of our programs could not be offered. All regional members are welcome to explore and, ultimately, participate in these volunteer activities and we encourage everyone to consider becoming involved at some level so as to sustain and improve upon the region's capabilities.
