It has recently come to the attention of the Region I leadership that Jane Dietrich, a well-known member of the research community, passed away very recently. A memorial service was held at noon on Saturday, February 6 at the Union Baptist Church, 874 Main Street, Cambridge. The obituary notice can be found in the Boston Globe

Region I Colleague and Friend
On June 19, 2009, Region 1 lost a
wonderful colleague and friend with the passing of Richard (Dick) J. McNeil,
Jr. Dick worked at Northeastern University for 38 years and, from 1999 until
his retirement in 2006, was the Director of the Division of Sponsored Project
Administration. A past Chair of NCURA Region 1 in 1990-91, Dick was active in
the region and was always willing to lend a helping hand to his Region I
colleagues whenever called upon to do so.
In addition to his lengthy career
in research administration, Dick taught for many years as a Lecturer and Senior
Lecturer in University College and the College of Professional Studies. In 2005
he was honored by the Barnett Institute of Chemical and Biological Analysis for
his many years of work in support of sponsored research at Northeastern
University.
