Allow me to
start by expressing my gratitude to the Region I Committee for nominating me
for a Treasure-Elect, and by promising that, elected or not, I am fully
committed to contribute towards to the growth of NCURA Region I.
I came to America
10 years ago to pursue a graduate degree in Finance. It has being an incredible
journey since. My two most important achievements were: creating a family with
my wife, Lucy Kolessin, and our baby-daughter, Catalina; and building a career
in Research Administration (which started with my first job at Beth Israel
Deaconess Medical Center). I would also like to mention that recently I was
selected for a member of the prestigious Latino leadership program in the
Boston Area, Conexion; and that I have been involved in NCURA, not only as a
member, but also as speaker at regional and national meetings, and as a mentor.
I still remember
my first NCURA meeting though, and how trilled I was to be part of the
community. That experience made me
appreciate the complexity and importance of my new job. (http://www.ncura.edu/content/about_us/statement_of_principles.php
)
Today, my
journey is far from over and is as exciting and challenging as ever.
There is a long road ahead all of us to ensure that our profession is
respected and valued and that all NCURA members have access to resources to
perform their jobs well; as well as to assist them in their individual and
professional development. We, at NCURA Region I, need to lead the knowledge
exchange and, through technology, create a professional network to help us
unifying the Northeast region. In these challenging economic times, with many
of our institutions experiencing budget cuts, we need to look for creative ways
to bring the resources closer to the research administrative community.
In the past few
years, my involvement in NCURA has been a cornerstone to my professional
development. The position of Treasure-Elect is a wonderful opportunity to give
back to NCURA and Its members by utilizing my background in Finance and
Research Management and my broad network of colleagues across the Boston hospitals and
universities.
Because of my
willingness to work hard, my belief in the principles of the organization and
my superb work ethics, I am absolutely certain that I will contribute greatly
to the organization. If elected as the Treasure-Elect, I will provide financial
stewardship and help build a robust infrastructure, ensuring the success of our
profession and the advancement of Education and Science.
Thank you for
your vote!
